Build your RSVP form

The best RSVP forms feel quick to guests, but still give you what you need for counts, catering, and seating. A little clarity up front saves a lot of “Just checking…” messages later.

Before you write questions

Keep it simple and specific. A few examples that work well:

  • “Will you be attending?” (Yes / No)
  • “Meal choice” (Chicken / Fish / Vegetarian)
  • “Any dietary restrictions?” (Short answer)
  • “Song request” (Optional)

If you need a guest to do something (pick a meal, confirm a plus-one), make that question easy to spot and easy to answer.

Add or edit RSVP questions

  1. Open your event.
  2. Go to Public guest pages → RSVP Questions.
  3. Add your questions in the order guests will see them.
  4. Save and preview the RSVP page before sending it out.

Choose the best question type

  • Multiple choice: best for anything you’ll count or sort (meals, events, attendance).
  • Short answer: best for quick details (allergies, last name spelling, etc.).
  • Long answer: best when you truly want a note (rare—use sparingly).

If you use multiple choice, make sure there are at least two real options (not a blank option).

Required questions: use sparingly

Required fields are helpful when you truly need the answer to move forward (example: meal choice for attendees). Too many required questions can make guests quit halfway through.

Troubleshooting

  • If you see At least two options are required → add two or more non-empty choices before saving.
  • If guests can’t submit → check which questions are marked required, and make sure each required question has a clear answer option.
  • If guests get Invalid option on submit → the form likely changed while they had it open; have them refresh the page and try again.

Quick checklist

  • Keep questions short and single-purpose.
  • Use multiple choice for anything you’ll report on.
  • Mark required only when you truly need it.
  • Do a quick test RSVP after big edits (from a phone is ideal).
