Secure your Knotty account
This is the “do it once, thank yourself later” setup. A secure account protects guest details and prevents last‑minute chaos if someone can’t sign in right before a deadline.
Set your baseline security
- Use a unique password for Knotty (not reused from anywhere else).
- Verify your email address (so recovery emails actually work).
- Enable authenticator-based two-factor authentication (2FA).
Why 2FA helps
2FA adds a second lock. Even if someone gets your password, they still can’t sign in without a one-time code from your phone (or password manager). It’s one of the easiest ways to avoid surprise account access issues.
Enable 2FA
- Open your Profile.
- Select Add authenticator.
- Scan the QR code (or enter the secret manually).
- Enter a fresh 6-digit code to confirm setup.
Note: You’ll need a verified email for this flow.
Recovery paths
Reset password
- Use Forgot password on the login screen.
- Open the newest reset email.
- Create a new password with at least 8 characters.
Re-verify email
If verification is blocking you, go to /verify-email to request a new verification message, then open the newest email you receive.
Troubleshooting
- If no reset email arrives → check spam/junk, and confirm you’re using the same email you originally signed up with.
- If your 2FA code fails repeatedly → turn on automatic time sync on your phone, then try a newly generated code.
- If a verification link expired → request a new verification email and open the newest message right away.
Quick checklist
- Set up password + verification + 2FA before things get busy.
- Keep your phone time set to “automatic.”
- Always use the newest reset/verification email.
