Fix guest link and RSVP issues

Most guest issues come down to one thing: they opened the wrong link, or they’re halfway through a flow that changed. This checklist helps you solve it quickly (and keeps the back-and-forth texts short).

Step 1: Ask what link they opened

Have them copy/paste the exact URL (or send a screenshot). Then identify what kind of link it is:

  • Token link: /p/<token>
  • Slug link: /page/<slug>
  • Custom domain link

Different links can behave differently, so this step prevents guesswork.

Step 2: Check password + guest matching

  1. Confirm whether password protection is enabled.
  2. Confirm the guest exists in your guest list (name spelling matters).
  3. If they see multiple matches, have them choose the correct entry.

Step 3: If the RSVP won’t submit, check the usual blockers

  • Required questions must be answered.
  • Option selections must still be valid.
  • Email fields must use valid formatting.

Troubleshooting

  • If they get Invalid password → resend the current password with the matching link (same message).
  • If they get Guest not found → confirm they’re on the right link, then check their name spelling in the guest list.
  • If they get Invalid option on submit → the RSVP page likely changed while it was open; have them refresh and try again.
  • If the custom domain won’t load → check the custom domain status and temporarily send the default knotty.love link.

Quick checklist

  • Get the exact URL they opened (copy/paste beats “the one you sent me”).
  • Keep link + password together when password is on.
  • Refresh the page after you change RSVP questions.
  • Retest using the same link type the guest used.
